Thank you for Remembering Us

The Women's Center is extremely grateful to MaryAnn Kirkup and Joanne Miller for remembering us in their will. This thoughtful gift allows the Women's Center to continue to be a comprehensive community resource for women in need of a job, a place to live, counseling, or help against violence. By supporting the Women's Center with your treasures, you too can give a gift of hope and change lives for the better, forever!

Client Story

As a 42 year-old mother of 2 children, I came to the Women's Center because I was a victim of domestic abuse. My family relocated from Montana due to my husband's job. He would push, yell, berate me in front of the children, use fear and intimidation with the kids and myself. I never called the police or told a single soul. I had always been a stay at a home mother. The children were not allowed to have friends over. He would take the car keys when he left to work and when he would get home we all were on "egg shells". I would try my hardest to keep the household clean to avoid any arguments. He always found a reason to verbally attack me. He was breaking me down, emotionally, verbally & finally physically. One day I was left the car keys to take the children to a doctor appointment.

While driving down the Aurora Road I saw the Women's Center sign. I did not know exactly what services they offered, so I went in and inquired. The people at the front desk were so welcoming, I filled out paperwork to become a client and I met with their victims advocate. We discussed the dynamics of abuse, created a safety plan, cycle of abuse, counseling, they provided us with personal items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, diapers and food). I couldn't believe the generosity that was poured out to my family. I now have some new tools to work with, and we explored options with the staff for getting resources from local agencies that can also help, it was great. Thank you to all the staff that treated my family and I with such tenderness. I am eternally grateful for their help.

Thank You Donovan for all you do for the north Brevard community. Donovan once again out did himself as he hosted a Trunk or Treat at Crackerjacks Tiki this past Halloween. Every year this event is held and proceeds are donated to a local charity. This year the proceeds benefited the Women's Center as well as SPCA. The Women's Center is grateful to have had the opportunity to share with the community the many resources available to them and their families if needed. As well as ways to get more involved and volunteer. Thank you Donovan for choosing us, and for their outstanding donation of $1,050.00 to the Women's Center in North Brevard.

Space Coast Velo Sport had another successful Christmas party this year.

The Women's Center would like to thank Space Coast Velo Sport and Roxanne Guy, M.D.- Brevard Plastic Surgery and Skin Treatment Center for their generous Christmas bike donation this year.

We have been extremely fortunate to be the recipients for their bike donations for several years. The children are most excited to be able to wake up Christmas morning and find a bike by the tree. Thank you again for all you do for the women and their children during the holiday season. After all, I am sure we all remember the joy of receiving our very first bike!

Thank You

Mango is an 8 year old male Chihuahua that was living in a domestic violence household. He and his owner fled seeking a safe haven. Mango was not current with his vaccinations and therefore unable to enter into shelters. The victim service program reached out to Brevard Aid To Animals . Once Holly, an employee at the clinic was told Mango's story she came to his aid by donating $20.00 toward the cost of his vaccinations. Mango was able to get his basic vaccinations that today. This is the client's fur baby that she absolutely adores and would rather sleep in her vehicle before parting ways from her precious companion.
